All about ISRO's CARTOSAT -3



Cartosat-3 is the series of earth observation satellite and have the aim to improve defense and service monitoring of Indian region with replacing IRS series satellite which has old age technology.



Satellite will support the national economy in the areas of agriculture, water resources, forestry and ecology, geology, watersheds, marine fisheries, and coastal management and defense.

Cartosat-3 costs 10 crore rupees allocated from the Indian government 2013 - 2014.
Its Panchromatic sensor's spatial resolution is about 0.25 meter and a maximum of 1 meter. And used 1.2-meter diameter optics.
ISRO has already adopted an advanced adaptive system to Remove seeing-related image wander and acoustic optical devices (related light and wave) And MEMs and large area-light weight mirrors.

All CARTOSAT have a PAM ( panchromatic camera ) cameras that take black and white stereoscopic pictures ( 3D images or seeing the depth of an image ) of the earth in the visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum

Because all CARTOSAT operate on Panchromatic band(black and white)
So, therefore, the image taken by it is not colorful.

Color coding algorithms use it on the image which enables a salient feature such as
different rock types, a range of temperatures, warm gulf stream waters or any type of information where it would be useful to convey visually by adding colors.

The data from the satellite is used for detailed mapping and other cartographic applications at cadastral level, urban and rural infrastructure development and management, as well as applications in Land Information System (LIS) and Geographical Information System (GIS).
PAM camera provide data in a variety of spatial, spectral,temporal resolution and rediometric resolution.

These tools quickly enabled India to map, monitor and manage its natural resources at various spatial resolutions. The operational availability of data products to the user organizations further strengthened the relevance of remote sensing applications and management in the country.
